Today was perfect in every way. Rebecca and Rachel are the most incredible tour guides. They know all the best shops, restaurants, and places to see. In the morning we shopped on the main street. The Hudson Bay Store here is really good. I bought a cashmere robe and Larry got a great little travel suitcase that will take up less space in our very tiny room on the train. I also bought a little ring – the sales clerk admired my necklace that my sister Lois had given me- a glass piece with a bubble in it.
We had lunch at a great ribs and beef restaurant- Rachel’s recommendation- called Tony Romas. I loved it.
Then off to what can only be described as one of the highlights of my life. We took a seven-minute gondola ride up Sulfur Mountain. I was a basket case going up- I was pretty much regretting the decision and was very scared. I don’t like heights or being in compromising situations – like being attached to a small cable on a very high mountain! But it was so worth it. There are really no words to describe the beauty of the scenery that we got to experience. See the pictures on my Facebook page.
We drove by the famous Banff hotel and then to the rapids. It’s been a wonderful day from start to finish. The weather is perfect. I have to repeat what I said before- Alberta is really a special place – I had no idea!
